What a 500L Still Actually Does
We build 500L copper stills for distilleries moving past pilot runs but not ready for 1000L batches. A 500L charge gives you roughly 45–55 gallons of finished spirit per week depending on proof, run length, and wash ABV. That fits a small whiskey house, a gin brand adding vodka, or a contract distiller running several recipes.
Copper Contact and Column Choices
Copper matters in the vapor path, pot, and column. We use copper for the kettle, onion, and reflux column; stainless is fine for condenser shells and piping. The reflux column lets you tighten cuts for vodka and gin. For whiskey, many customers run lower reflux and keep more copper in the vapor path.

Heat, Options, and Site Fit
Steam heating needs a boiler and often suits continuous production. Electric is simpler for sites without steam. We ask for ceiling height, floor loading, drain location, power supply, and water temp before quoting. A gin basket adds height. An agitator helps with grain-in washes, but it changes the drive and maintenance schedule. Condenser choice depends on cooling water and ambient conditions.
For shipping, a 500L still usually moves as a crate with the column removed. We send piping diagrams, utility requirements, and a packing list. Before you request a quote, send your wash type, target ABV, batches per week, available steam or kW, room dimensions, and whether you need gin basket, agitator, or CIP. Those details drive the final build.
