Built for Herbal Distillation Runs
We build these units with food-grade stainless steel on the product path and copper where it matters. For herbal distillation, that usually means a copper column section, copper dome, and copper condenser tubes. The boiler, pipework, and gaskets are 304 or 316L. If you run gin or botanicals, a gin basket sits above the column so vapor contacts the herbs once, not in a steeping tank.
Heat source changes the layout more than buyers expect. Electric heating is simple: 380V or 480V, lower upfront utility work, good for 200L-500L craft houses. Steam heating gives faster heat-up and softer control on 1000L+ systems, but you need a boiler, steam piping, and condensate return. We usually quote a steam jacket or internal coil based on your steam pressure.
Tank Sizes and Real Shop Fit
200L suits a small herbal tincture or sample distillery. 300L-500L fits a working craft distillery running 3-5 batches per week. 1000L is a production tank for contract distillation or a brand with steady wholesale demand. An agitator helps with grain-in or macerated herbs; without it, you get scorching on electric elements. Condenser size follows boiler size – undersize it and you lose efficiency.
Before we quote, send your batch size, alcohol target, heat source, available ceiling height, floor drain location, and power or steam supply. We also need to know if the unit ships as one piece or skid-mounted. Maintenance is straightforward: copper parts need pickling, gaskets and seals get replaced, and the condenser needs access for cleaning. Factory price stays honest when the specification is clear.
