Description

Sizing comes first

Most of these tanks are ordered against a number the buyer already has: batch size. A 10,000 L vessel holds about 8,000 L of must at 80% fill, which fits a mid-size winery running several varietals in parallel. The 20,000 L unit suits large single-lot ferments where fewer vessels mean less pumping and fewer transfers. Construction is identical, so the decision is really about how you want to split the harvest and how much floor space the cellar can give up.

Where the details show up after a few vintages

Inner shell is SUS304 at 3 mm; we switch to 316L when pH stays low or when caustic cleaning is aggressive. Dimple plate jackets are welded directly to the lower shell and cone instead of being fitted as separate coils. Contact area is larger, there are no shaded zones behind a coil, and the glycol circuit drains completely. Welds are ground, pickled and passivated, and the interior finishes at Ra ≤ 0.8 µm. Every vessel is hydro-tested at 0.3 MPa before insulation. Then 100 mm of polyurethane with 1.5 mm stainless cladding — condensation on the shell is what rusts cellar floors and destroys insulation value over time.

Standard ports: 400–450 mm manway, CIP spray ball, racking arm, sample valve, thermowell, and a combined pressure/vacuum relief valve. Set the relief valve to match your glycol and pump limits — a blocked valve on a sealed tank during active fermentation is the failure mode we see most often.

Questions buyers send us

Dimple plate or external coil? Plate, for anything above 5,000 L. Coils take up interior volume and make CIP harder.

How do I choose 10,000 L or 20,000 L? Count your picking windows, not your total tonnage. Two small tanks usually beat one large tank for varietal separation.

Can I run white and red in the same tank? Yes, but specify the jacket area for the coldest duty you expect.

How does CIP connect? Spray ball inlet on the top, drain at the cone tip, and a return line sized to your pump.

Tell us your batch size, wine type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your cellar.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
