Description

What this tank is built for

These 100L to 400L stainless steel fermenting vessels suit pilot batches, taproom production, and recipe trials. A 100L tank works for test brews and yeast handling; 200L and 300L tanks fit small craft breweries running several batches per week; 400L vessels give more headspace for high-krausen ales or lagers. Moving from plastic carboys changes more than volume: repeatable temperature control, sanitation, and pressure management become the real constraints.

Material, welding, and surface finish

We build the body, cone, and dished top from SUS304 or, for aggressive cleaning chemicals and chloride exposure, SUS316L. Product-contact welds are full-penetration and ground flush where required. Interior surfaces are pickled and passivated, then polished for brewery CIP. Exterior finishes include brushed or mirror-polished. Sanitary fittings are DIN or tri-clamp to match your hoses and valves.

Cooling, pressure, and cleaning

A dimple or channel cooling jacket on the cone and lower cylinder controls fermentation temperature. Glycol enters and returns through dedicated ports positioned for your chiller layout. Tanks are normally rated for 1.5-3 bar working pressure, with safety valve and gauge. Working pressure is not full vacuum rating. If you plan to dry hop or crop yeast under pressure, tell us before fabrication. CIP uses a rotating spray ball with separate inlet and drain. Sample valve, racking arm, and dry-hop port are common options.

Typical configurations

Capacity Application Common options
100L Pilot batch, yeast propagation Single jacket, 1.5 bar
200L Taproom seasonal Dual-zone jacket, dry-hop port
300L Small craft brewery Conical bottom, CIP spray ball
400L Core beer trial or lager Insulated body, 3 bar

FAQ

Can one tank handle ale and lager? Yes, but lager needs tighter control and more cooling area. For 400L lagers, we usually increase jacket coverage.

Why choose a conical bottom? It helps yeast crop, trub discharge, and reduces beer loss. Flat-bottom tanks are cheaper but less practical for repeated fermentation.

How do I connect CIP and glycol? We provide port layouts for CIP supply, CIP return, glycol in/out, and sample valve. Match hose diameters and thread standards before ordering.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
