Description

What This Tank Is Built For

Conical fermentation tanks are the workhorse of any brewery, and the design choices behind them affect everything from fermentation consistency to how much time your crew spends cleaning. We manufacture these vessels for breweries that need reliable temperature control, efficient yeast harvesting, and a tank that holds up to daily production cycles.

Material and Fabrication

We build with SUS304 as standard and offer 316L for applications where chloride exposure or aggressive cleaning chemicals are a concern. The inner shell is typically 3mm, with a 2mm outer jacket. Welds are full-penetration TIG, ground and polished to a sanitary finish. Interior surface roughness is kept at or below 0.4μm, which matters more than most buyers realize—rough surfaces harbor bacteria and make CIP less effective.

Cooling jackets are dimple or channel type, sized to the tank volume and the fermentation profile. For ales running at 68°F, a single jacket zone is usually sufficient. Lagers fermented at 50°F or below benefit from multiple zones to avoid stratification.

Where These Tanks Fit

We supply tanks from 3BBL to 100BBL for craft breweries, brewpubs, and contract production facilities. Small operations often start with 7BBL or 10BBL tanks and expand later. The cone angle—usually 60 degrees—affects yeast dump efficiency and how much beer you lose at the bottom.

Common Questions

Why conical? The cone allows yeast and trub to settle into a compact mass that can be dumped without disturbing the beer. Flat-bottom tanks work for some styles, but conicals make harvesting and repitching practical.

How do I size the cooling jacket? It depends on your crash cooling rate and ambient conditions. Tell us your fermentation temperature and timeline, and we\’ll calculate the surface area needed.

Can I add dry hopping or carbonation ports? Yes. We can position additional fittings for dry hopping, carbonation stones, or sample valves based on your process.

Before You Request a Quote

Know your batch size, beer styles, fermentation temperature range, and available floor space. Also decide whether you need standalone tanks or a system with a glycol chiller and control panel. These details determine the configuration we recommend.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
