Description
A 1500 L cold crash tank handles the last step before packaging: dropping yeast, pulling beer down to -1 to 1 C, and holding pressure while carbonation finishes. On a 20 to 30 hL brewhouse this volume usually matches one brew length, so the tank can be filled, crashed and emptied on a predictable rotation instead of sitting full while packaging catches up.
We build the shell from 304 stainless as standard and 316L when a brewery runs fruit beers, seltzer bases or anything with a low pH. Cylinder and cone carry separate dimple jackets, which matters because the cone needs hard cooling during crash while the cylinder jacket only has to hold temperature through carbonation. Insulation is 80 mm polyurethane under a 304 outer skin, so the tank does not sweat onto your floor in a warm packaging hall.
Build details that affect daily use
Welds are TIG, ground and passivated on the product side. Interior finish runs 0.4 to 0.6 Ra; a coarser 2B finish is fine for the exterior cladding but not for the cone, where yeast and hop residue collect. The side manway is 400 mm, which is the practical minimum for a person to reach the cone seam with a brush during inspection.

Where this tank fits
Small taprooms often run one or two of these as combined bright and crash tanks, accepting slower turnover. Regional breweries with a canning line usually keep crash volume separate from the brite tank so filtration and packaging are not blocked by a tank that is still dropping temperature.
Common questions
Do I need a separate cold crash tank? Only if packaging cannot wait. If your fermenter can hold 3 bar and reach 1 C, it can do the job, though dry hopping and crashing in the same vessel slows the next brew.
Can I carbonate in it? Yes, with a carbonation stone and a relief valve set to your working pressure. Keep the stone above the cone so it is not buried in yeast.
What changes between a 1500 L and a 3000 L unit? Jacket area and leg loading. Doubling volume roughly doubles weight when full, so floor loading and leg bracing have to be checked before you order.
Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review
We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
