Description

Isobaric fermenters exist for one reason: to let you carbonate in the same vessel you fermented in. The 1000L unit fits a 10–20 bbl brewhouse; the 500L version handles pilot, seasonal, and taproom-only batches without tying up a bright tank.

Shell plate is 3 mm SUS304 as standard, with 316L available for the cone and other wetted parts when the brewing water runs high in chloride or the house produces sour and mixed-culture beer. Dimple jackets are welded to the lower cylinder and cone, and the glycol path is baffled so flow cannot short-circuit across the top of the panel. Product-side welds are TIG, argon purged from the back side, then ground, pickled, and passivated. Interior finish is Ra ≤ 0.8 µm. Exterior stays at 2B mill finish unless you specify polished faces for a visible taproom installation.

Jacket area matters more than jacket coverage looks on a drawing. Crashing a 1000L tank of 18 °P ale from 20 °C to 2 °C inside 24 hours takes roughly 1.2–1.5 m² of wetted surface with 30% propylene glycol at –4 °C. Undersized jackets are the most common problem we see in incoming quote requests, usually because tank prices were compared without comparing cooling area. CIP runs through a rotating spray ball in the top manway, and we size the port at 1.5\” or 2\” based on your pump. A racking arm, dry-hop port, sample valve, and adjustable PRV set at 2.5 bar come standard on the 1000L, which is hydro-tested at 4 bar. Brewpubs typically take single-zone cooling; anyone running lagers or staggered tank schedules should ask for dual-zone.

Parameter Specification
Nominal volume 500L / 1000L (custom to 5000L)
Wetted material SUS304, SUS316L optional
Inner surface Ra ≤ 0.8 µm, pickled and passivated
Cooling Dimple jacket, cone + lower cylinder, single or dual zone
Working pressure 2.5 bar, PRV set; 4 bar test
Insulation 80 mm PU, stainless outer shell

Can I ferment and carbonate in one tank? Yes, if the shell, cone, and fittings are all rated for the carbonation pressure. Cheaper tanks often are not, and the PRV is the giveaway — a fixed 1 bar valve will not hold 2.4 volumes.

Do I need a cone? A 60° cone is what makes yeast and dry-hop removal practical. Shallow cones work for top-cropping ale strains but make dumping slow.

What about the glycol loop? Give us your chiller capacity, pipe size, and ambient summer temperature. We will tell you whether the jacket area is sufficient or whether the tank needs a second zone.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
