Description

What the 2000L size actually buys you

A 2000L tank sits in a practical middle band for sparkling wine. It is big enough to carry a commercial lot of base wine through secondary fermentation, and small enough that one stalled batch does not sink a cellar. We build this unit as a pressure-rated fermenter with a dimple cooling jacket covering the cone and lower cylinder, so primary fermentation at 12–14 °C, cold settling, and yeast drop all happen in the same vessel.

Materials, welds, and the parts people forget

Shell and cone are SUS304 as standard — 3 mm on the cylinder, 4 mm on the cone where the load lands. If your cleaning chemicals run high in chloride, or you plan to keep the tank for twenty years, 316L is worth the difference. Internal welds are ground flush and passivated. Product contact finish is 2B unless you crop yeast for reuse, in which case we go to 0.4–0.6 µm. The jacket is laser-welded and pressure tested at 1.5 times design. Ports are DIN or tri-clamp: racking arm, sample valve, CIP spray ball on its own line, and a manway with a proper gasket seat and a hinge that survives daily opening.

Where these tanks end up

Charmat producers, cideries, and contract bottling houses are the common buyers. Breweries also order this configuration when they want a pressure vessel for carbonating rather than a unitank with ports they will never use.

Parameter Specification
Nominal volume 2000 L (1600–1800 L working)
Material SUS304 standard, SUS316L optional
Design pressure 3 bar, safety valve set at 2.5 bar
Cooling Dimple jacket, cone and lower cylinder, glycol
Insulation 80 mm PU with stainless cladding
Finish 2B interior, 0.4–0.6 µm on request
Connections DIN / tri-clamp, CIP, racking arm, sample valve

Can I run secondary fermentation under pressure?

Yes, within the rating above, with a correctly sized safety valve and a gauge on top. Fit a spare valve; do not let one be your only protection.

What glycol temperature do I need?

For a single 2000L tank, a 5 HP chiller holding -4 to -6 °C supply is usually enough. Add up jacket volume before sizing for several tanks.

Conical or flat bottom?

Conical if you drop yeast or want less racking loss on sparkling base. Flat bottom suits short-hold settling but costs you recovery.

Send us your batch size, wine type, number of tanks, and available floor space. We will come back with tank volume, jacket area, and a port layout that fits your cellar.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
