2000L Conical Beer Fermentation Tank | SUS304 Cooling Jacket Unitank

This 2000L unitank is a two-vessel fermentation and conditioning tank built for breweries running 15–25 bbl batches. It handles primary fermentation, diacetyl rest, and cold crash in one vessel, so you reduce transfers and oxygen pickup.

Why engineers choose a conical unitank at this size

A 2000L working volume gives you roughly 60–65 hl of green beer per cycle. The 60° cone collects trub and yeast tightly, which matters when you harvest yeast for repitching. For lagers, the jacket surface area becomes the limiting factor—not the tank volume. We size the cooling jacket to pull a 2000L batch from 68°F to 34°F within 24–36 hours at a 25°F glycol supply.

Material and fabrication details

We build the tank from SUS304 stainless steel with a 3mm inner shell and 1.5mm dimple jacket. The wetted surface is pickled and passivated, then mechanically polished to under 0.6μm Ra. All interior welds are ground flush and inspected. Exterior welds are full-penetration and brush-finished. Each tank gets a 2bar pressure test and a hydrostatic test before shipment.

The cooling jacket is divided into two or three zones depending on your glycol loop. A 1.5-inch CIP spray ball sits on the top manway, and we include a dry-hop port, racking arm, and 1.5-inch bottom outlet with butterfly valve as standard.

Pressure and safety

Working pressure is 15 psi (about 1bar) for fermentation, tested to 30 psi. Each tank ships with an adjustable pressure relief valve set to your spec, plus a blowoff arm and sampling valve. We do not ship tanks without a functioning PRV—no exceptions.

Practical selection notes

If you run ales and lagers in the same tank, confirm your maximum glycol flow rate before you order. A 2000L tank with insufficient jacket coverage will lag on cold crash every time. Small brewpubs often need more tanks at a smaller size rather than one oversized unit. If you plan to carbonate in the tank, specify the higher pressure rating at the time of order—retrofitting later is expensive.

Common applications

This tank suits craft breweries, contract brewing facilities, and beverage producers fermenting kombucha, cider, or sake-style products. It works for both 15 bbl and 20 bbl brewhouse output depending on cycle time.

FAQ

Can I use this tank for both fermentation and brite conditioning? Yes, unitanks are designed for that. Just confirm your carbonation pressure target before ordering.

What glycol chiller size do I need? Budget 0.5–0.75 hp per 2000L tank on a duty cycle, but the exact number depends on your ambient temperature and whether you crash cool simultaneously across multiple tanks.

How do I connect CIP and glycol lines? We provide 1.5-inch tri-clamp ports for CIP and 1.5-inch NPT or tri-clamp for glycol in/out. Send us your manifold layout and we can match port sizes.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
