Description

What a Brite Beer Tank Does on the Brewery Floor

A brite beer tank (BBT) is a conditioning and storage vessel. After fermentation, beer often needs time to settle, carbonate, and clarify before packaging. A unitank can ferment and condition in one vessel; a dedicated BBT keeps finished beer under pressure and temperature control until the kegging or canning line calls for it. If your brewhouse runs 10–20 batches per week, one tank rarely solves the problem. You need matching volume, cooling surface, and headspace for the process.

We build 300 L, 500 L, 1000 L, 2000 L, and 4000 L brite tanks and unitanks for craft breweries, brewpubs, and beverage plants. The shell and dish ends are usually 304 stainless steel. For beers with high chloride exposure or aggressive cleaning cycles, 316L is available on wetted parts. Internal welds are ground and passivated; product-contact surfaces are pickled and passivated or mechanically polished to 0.4–0.8 µm depending on your standard. Exterior finish can be brushed or mirror polished.

Cooling jackets are dimple or laser-welded on the cone and lower cylinder. On larger tanks, two or three zones help avoid stratification. Working pressure might be 1.5–3 bar, with a safety valve and pressure gauge sized to the vessel. CIP uses a rotating spray ball. Cone drain, racking arm, sample valve, dry-hop port, and carbonation stone are positioned for practical access.

Typical Specifications

Capacity Working Volume Cooling Zones Wetted Material
300 L 240–270 L 1 304 or 316L
500 L 400–450 L 1 304 or 316L
1000 L 800–850 L 1–2 304 or 316L
2000 L 1600–1700 L 2 304 or 316L
4000 L 3200–3400 L 2–3 304 or 316L

Selection Questions We Hear

Which volume should I choose? Match batch size to working volume, not nominal volume. A 1000 L tank may hold 800–850 L comfortably with headspace.

Unitank or dedicated BBT? If you package directly from the fermenter or want fewer transfers, a unitank can work. For high packaging throughput, a dedicated BBT with separate fermenters is easier to schedule.

Why control temperature? Carbonation, haze, and yeast settling depend on stable temperature. Warm beer holds less CO2 and can foam in the filler.

How do we connect piping, CIP, and glycol? We supply tri-clamp fittings, DIN or SMS options, and jacket ports that match your glycol loop. Tell us your available height, floor loading, and ceiling clearance before finalizing.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
