Description

An 800 L unitank lands in a useful middle ground: big enough for a full 5–6 bbl batch, small enough to roll through a standard doorway and run off one glycol loop. We build these as single-wall vessels with a dimpled glycol jacket covering the cone and lower cylinder, which lets you crash from 68°F to 34°F at a controlled rate instead of shocking the yeast.

Body and cone are formed from 3 mm SUS304. For sour programs or heavy fruit additions we switch to 316L, since acid and chloride exposure will pit a 304 surface over time. Interior welds are full penetration, ground flush, then pickled and passivated. Product contact surfaces are mechanically polished below 0.4 µm Ra. The outside gets a #4 brushed finish — mirror polishing on a working tank is wasted money once hoses and clamps start dragging across it.

The 60° cone is standard on our tanks. That angle drains trub and hop debris cleanly and keeps the yeast cake compact enough to harvest through the 2 in. bottom dump. Cone volume runs about 25% of total capacity, which gives you headroom for dry hopping without burying the racking arm. Working pressure is 1.5 bar, tested at 3 bar. Every unit ships with an adjustable pressure relief valve, dry-hop port, racking arm, sample valve, and a CIP spray ball mounted in the top manway.

Glycol ports are 1 in. NPT or tri-clamp, your choice. We set the jacket inlet low and the outlet high so trapped air vents on its own; a balancing valve on the return helps when several tanks share one chiller loop.

Common questions

Cone-only jacket or full jacket? Ales that need fast crash cooling benefit from jacket coverage on the cylinder. Cone-only costs less but adds hours to a temperature drop.

How do I size the tank to my brewhouse? Match it to your knockout volume and leave roughly 20% headspace for krausen. An 800 L tank suits a 6–7 bbl brewhouse running single batches.

Can it double as a brite tank? Yes, with a carbonation stone and the higher pressure rating option.

How many tanks per glycol loop? It depends on chiller capacity and line length. Send us the layout and we will run the numbers.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
