Description
Configured around an 8BBL batch and the brew day after next
Most 8BBL brewhouses we build go to breweries running two to three brews a day, four to five days a week. That duty cycle drives the layout more than anything else. A dedicated mash/lauter tun paired with a kettle/whirlpool lets the wort line and heat exchanger stay busy while lautering finishes on the next turn, and that overlap is where most of the time savings come from. Single-vessel systems exist at this size, though we rarely argue for them above 5BBL.
Fabrication details worth asking about
Shells are 3mm SUS304, with 4mm on the kettle where the jacket and burner loads concentrate. 316L is available for coastal sites or where caustic wash cycles run hot. Fluid-side welds are full-penetration TIG, ground flush, pickled and passivated afterward, then mechanically polished to Ra ≤ 0.6 µm on wetted surfaces. Dimple-plate jackets cover the kettle bottom and lower sidewall; insulation is 50–100mm rock wool under a 2mm stainless cladding. Wort and CIP piping runs on sanitary clamps so nothing dead-ends.

Questions we get from buyers
Do we need a separate whirlpool? At 8BBL, a combined kettle/whirlpool works if your hop loads stay moderate. Above roughly 1.5 kg/BBL of kettle hops, separate vessels keep trub out of the heat exchanger.
Gravity or pumped transfer? Gravity saves on maintenance but locks you into a floor layout. Most of our clients go pumped and never regret the pump seal as long as it is serviceable from the front.
Can the system grow? Add a second kettle later without touching the mash tun, provided the original frame leaves room.
Tell us your batch size, beer type, brews per day and available floor space. We can recommend vessel configuration, heating method and jacket area for your building.

Customer Review
We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
