Description
A brite tank is a finishing vessel, not a fermenter. Fermentation is finished before beer gets here — what is left to do is carbonate, clarify, and hold pressure until the filler or the keg line takes it. That single fact drives the whole design: more jacket coverage on the shell, a shallower bottom dish, and a manway sized for dry hopping or hop dosing instead of yeast cropping.
We build these in 500 L, 1000 L and 2000 L working volumes, with larger sizes to 5000 L on request. Shell and dish are SUS304 as standard. SUS316L is worth the upcharge if you run kettle sours, fruit additions, or heavily chloride-loaded water. Interior welds are ground flush, pickled and passivated, then polished to Ra 0.6–0.8 µm on all wetted surfaces. Exterior gets a #4 satin finish for the production floor or a mirror polish when the tank stands in a taproom.
Jacket area is where most quotes go wrong. Dimpled or channel-plate jackets on the shell and both dishes are typical. For a 1000 L tank we spec 1.2–1.5 m² to crash from 18 °C to 2 °C in 24 hours on 2 °C glycol. Undersize it and the tank cannot hold carbonation through a slow packaging day — the head pressure drops and the beer foams in the line. Insulation is 80–100 mm polyurethane under stainless cladding.
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Working volume | 500 L / 1000 L / 2000 L (custom to 5000 L) |
| Material | SUS304; SUS316L optional |
| Interior finish | Ra ≤ 0.8 µm, pickled and passivated |
| Cooling jacket | Dimpled plate, shell + dishes, glycol 2–4 °C |
| Working pressure | 1.5–3 bar |
| Design pressure | 3–4 bar, matched PRV setting |
| Insulation | 80–100 mm PU, stainless cladding |
| Fittings | DIN 11851 or tri-clamp, carbonation stone port, sample valve, racking arm, CIP spray ball |
Does the PRV setting have to match the working pressure? Yes. A tank rated at 3 bar with a 4 bar relief valve gives you no protection at all. We ship the valve set and tagged to the vessel rating, and we re-test on site after installation.
How is CIP handled? A rotating spray ball in the top dish, a drain at the lowest point of the bottom dish, and a 1.5–2 bar pump will do it. Sloped bottoms matter more than the spray ball brand.
What connections do most breweries order? Carbonation stone on a dedicated port, racking arm above the bottom outlet, sample valve at mid-height, and a separate CIP return so you are not breaking the racking line.
Sizing comes down to your packaging rhythm rather than your batch size. A 10 BBL brewery filling kegs twice a week often runs two 1000 L brite tanks instead of one 2000 L, because a single vessel cannot be cleaned, filled, and emptied fast enough. Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
