Description

What This Tank Does in the Process Line

A bright beer tank is not a second fermenter. It sits downstream: beer arrives after the diacetyl rest and final cooling, carbonates under top pressure, drops clear, and leaves to the filler or kegger. Because the vessel holds pressure, the same tank can cold-store process water — several of our customers run one unit for beer and switch it to water on packaging-free days.

Capacity is normally 1000 L or 2000 L, but we build to your batch size rather than pushing you toward a catalog number. The shell is 304 stainless with a dimple cooling jacket on the side wall and, on most orders, on the cone as well. Interior welds are ground flush and passivated; wetted surfaces are pickled to a sanitary finish that will not trap soil. If your water runs high in chlorides, we suggest 316L for the shell and jacket — the price gap is small next to replacing a pitted tank.

Design pressure is typically 2–3 bar working, with a matching safety valve on top. That figure decides whether the job works: carbonating to 2.5 volumes at 2 °C needs about 1 bar of head pressure, so a tank rated lower will not carbonate cleanly, and a valve set too high defeats the protection. We fit a CIP spray ball, sample valve, racking arm, pressure gauge, and a dry-hop port when required. The jacket ties into your glycol loop through tri-clamp connections, and the beer outlet and CIP return are sized to the piping you already have.

FAQ

1000 L or 2000 L? Size to the volume you package per week, not to your fermenter. A tank that is only half full carbonates slowly and wastes glycol.

Do I need the cone jacketed? Yes if you crash-cool quickly or package in warm rooms. Side-only cooling is fine for steady, low-turnover maturation.

Can it double as a water tank? Yes, provided the fittings suit potable water and the tank is CIP\’d between duties.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
