Description

What the CIP System Has to Do Before Anything Else

Most CIP projects start with a deviation report, not a budget line. A rinse cycle runs long, caustic strength drifts, and someone asks how the lines were cleaned last week. We build CIP skids from 200 L to 2000 L per vessel in two- and three-vessel layouts, and the first thing we ask is what the wash has to remove: milk stone, beer stone, sugar residue, pigment, or API trace.

How a Cleaning Cycle Runs

A typical sequence is a pre-rinse, a caustic wash at 70–80 °C, an intermediate rinse, an acid wash where mineral scale matters, and a final rinse. Supply flow must hold roughly 1.5–2 m/s in the largest line of the loop; below that, the film stays put. The return pump is normally sized a step above the supply pump so the tank does not flood during a slug of foam. Temperature, conductivity, and flow get monitored at the return line, since that is where the real condition of the wash liquor shows up.

Picking the Vessel Count

Two vessels — caustic and rinse water — cover a lot of dairies and beverage lines. A third vessel adds an acid tank, which pays off when hard water or heat exchanger scale is a recurring problem. Single-vessel units work where changeovers are infrequent and the operator can drain and refill between steps. Multi-vessel skids suit plants running several loops of different chemistry.

Heating, Pumping, Controls

Steam injection heats fast but dilutes the caustic over time; steam coils and electric immersion heaters keep concentration stable and cost more to run. We supply manual valve trees, semi-automatic setups with timers and temperature cutouts, and PLC control with recipe storage and trend logging if your QA group needs batch records.

Where These Skids Go

Dairy receivers, pasteurizers, and fillers; brewery fermenters and transfer lines; winery tanks and bottling runs; sauce and liquid food kettles; cosmetic mixing vessels; pharmaceutical hold tanks and transfer piping. Cleaning parameters should be validated against your own residue limits and local requirements — we build the equipment, your quality team signs off the cycle.

Questions We Get Asked

Can one skid serve several loops? Yes, with a distribution manifold and return pump sized for the longest run. Watch pressure drop when two loops open at once.
Do I need a separate rinse water tank? If your water is hard or your product is protein-heavy, yes — it keeps the caustic from being diluted every cycle.
How long does delivery take? Standard two-vessel units ship in weeks, not months; PLC builds and custom tank sizes add engineering time.

Getting a Quote That Fits

Send us your industry and product, tank and pipe layout with line diameters, required cleaning capacity per loop, available heat source, preferred automation level, stainless grade, and site details including voltage and available floor space. With that we can recommend a configuration and price it properly instead of guessing.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
