Description

A 2000–3000 L conical fermenter usually shows up at a specific moment in a brewery\’s life: the 10–20 BBL brewhouse is running, and the pilot tank no longer covers demand. These vessels take a full cast from a 15–20 BBL brewhouse with headspace left for krausen, or split a larger brew across two tanks when the schedule is tight.

Shell, cone and jacket construction

We build the body and cone from 304 stainless as standard, and 316L when the water is high in chloride or the house produces sours. Cone angle is 60° for most ales, 70° where yeast cropping and dry-hop dumping matter more than floor space. Shell thickness runs 3 mm at 2000 L and 4 mm at 3000 L. The cooling jacket is dimple-plate welded directly to the shell rather than clamped on as a sleeve, so cooling area stays even and CIP chemicals never sit in a seam.

Pressure, cooling and cleaning

Working pressure is 1.5 bar (about 22 psi) on standard tanks and 3 bar on reinforced models. The relief valve and the tank rating have to match — a 3 bar vessel fitted with a 1.5 bar PRV is a mistake we see often, and it is not cheap to correct. We set the valve on the tank and stamp the set pressure on the nameplate.

CIP runs through a rotating spray ball in the dome, fed by the CIP arm. The racking arm sits above the cone-to-shell weld so you can draw clear beer without pulling trub. Glycol connections are 1.5 in. tri-clamp in and out, and the jacket can be zoned so one tank handles fermentation and cold crash in place.

Questions we get before quoting

Can I carbonate in the tank? Yes, with a carb stone and a rating of 1.5 bar or higher. Spunding works too if you cap the tank near the end of primary.

Do I need 316L? Only if your water or process justifies it. For standard ales and lagers, 304 with proper passivation holds up for decades.

One big tank or two smaller ones? Two 2000 L tanks give more flexibility on split batches and dry-hop schedules; a single 3000 L saves floor space and glycol load.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
