Description
A 300 L jacketed isobaric fermenter sits between pilot brewing and first commercial output — about two barrels per batch, or a 250 L knockout with headspace left for krausen. Breweries order this size when they want to carbonate in the tank and package without buying a separate bright beer vessel.
What the vessel has to do
Isobaric means it holds pressure through fermentation and carbonation, not just during transfer. We form the shell from 3 mm SUS304 plate; 316L is available when the beer is heavily dry-hopped or the cleaning regime runs hot caustic more often than usual. Cone angle is 60° for most ales. Lagers and anything with a heavy trub load get 70°, so yeast slides down instead of parking on the slope.
All product-contact welds are TIG, ground flush, then pickled and passivated. Interior finish runs 0.4–0.6 µm mechanical polish. Exterior is 2B or mirror polish, with a #4 brushed band if the tank is going into a taproom.
Jacket, insulation and pressure
The dimple jacket covers the cone and lower cylinder, which is where the exotherm actually is. Glycol at -4 °C through a 1.5\” inlet pulls a 300 L batch down roughly 1 °C per hour. Insulation is 80 mm polyurethane under stainless cladding. Tank working pressure is 0.2 MPa; jacket is 0.3 MPa. Each unit ships with a spring-loaded PRV set to the rated pressure and a separate vacuum relief — a tank that gets hot CIP and is closed up will implode without one.
Standard fittings
- Rotating CIP spray ball, 1.5\” TC
- 4\” TC dry hop port on the top dish
- Racking arm with 1.5\” butterfly valve
- Sample valve and carb stone port on the cone
- Two 1.5\” glycol ports per jacket zone

Questions we get before quoting
Can one jacket handle lager fermentation at 8 °C? Yes, if your chiller is sized for it. Budget about 1.5 kW of cooling per tank during a crash cool.
Do I need 316L? Usually not. Sour programs and high-chloride water are the two cases where we push customers toward it.
Can it double as a bright tank? With the carb stone and PRV fitted, yes — many small breweries run it that way until volume justifies dedicated BBTs.
Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review
We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
