Description
A 300 L vessel lands in a useful gap. Brewpubs run it for seasonal releases, pilot plants test a recipe before scaling to 20 bbl, and contract brewers keep a few on hand for trial lots. The size makes the tank look simple to build. That is where most field problems start — undersized jackets, thin shells, and fittings picked for cost instead of cleanability.
How we build it
Product contact surfaces are 3 mm SUS304 as standard. We switch to 316L when the beer is heavily hopped, the water is aggressive, or the tank will double as a bright beer tank with long holding times. The cone runs at 60°, which gives clean yeast dropout without a tall footprint in a low-ceiling cellar. Interior welds are ground, polished, and passivated, targeting a surface finish under 0.6 µm across shell and cone. Outside, 80 mm polyurethane insulation under 2 mm stainless cladding keeps condensation off the floor and glycol demand predictable.
Temperature and pressure
A dimple jacket covers the cone and lower body. Glycol enters low and exits high; on 300 L tanks one zone is usually enough, though we split the cone onto its own circuit when customers plan fast crashes or lagering in the same vessel. Working pressure is 1.5 bar against a 3 bar design rating. Each unit ships with an adjustable pressure relief valve, gauge, and racking arm. A spunding valve and a safety valve are not the same device — only one protects the tank.
Fittings and cleaning
Standard ports: top-mounted CIP spray ball, dry hop port, sample valve, carbonation stone, tri-clamp connections throughout. CIP only works when the spray ball matches pump flow. A ball rated for 3 m³/h will not clean properly off a 1 m³/h pump, and that mismatch is common.

Common questions
Can I carbonate in the fermenter? Yes, with a carb stone and a working PRV. Brewers chasing bright, filter-free beer often still prefer a separate bright tank for cold conditioning.
Single zone or dual zone? Dual zone pays off when you crash cool quickly or hold lagers. On 300 L batches the difference is smaller than on 30 bbl tanks.
What glycol capacity do I need? Size the chiller for the crash, not the fermentation. Fermentation heat is steady; the pull-down after diacetyl rest is the peak load.
Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
