Description
A 1000 L fermenter is usually the point where a brewpub stops running pilot batches and starts shipping kegs to accounts. We build these as jacketed, conical-bottom vessels for breweries that need repeatable fermentation control, not just a place to park wort.
Tank construction
Body and cone are 3 mm SUS304 as standard. We switch to 316L when the beer is high in chloride or the cleaning chemicals are aggressive. Interior welds are ground flush and passivated, with wetted surfaces finished around Ra 0.4–0.8 µm. Exterior is brushed or mirror polished, depending on whether the tank sits behind glass in a taproom. Cone angle runs 60° for dry hopping and yeast cropping; a 90° cone shows up on smaller units where ceiling height is tight.
Temperature control
Dimple jackets cover the cone and lower cylinder, insulated with PU foam and clad in stainless. Paired with a correctly sized glycol chiller, that holds ale fermentation within ±0.5 °C. Undersized jackets are the mistake we see most often: a 1000 L tank needs roughly 1.5–2 m² of cooling surface to crash from 20 °C to 2 °C in a day.
Pressure, CIP and connections
Working pressure is typically 0.2–0.3 MPa, with a matching safety valve and a separate vacuum relief. Carbonating in a tank rated for atmospheric duty will deform the shell. Standard fittings include a racking arm, sample valve, dry-hop port, blow-off port, and a CIP spray ball on a 1.5\” tri-clamp. Wetted seals are EPDM or silicone and should be replaced yearly.

FAQ
Can I carbonate inside the tank? Only with a pressure-rated vessel and a relief valve set above your target carbonation pressure. Atmospheric tanks need a separate bright beer tank.
How many tanks do I need? Work backward from weekly volume and fermentation time. A 7-day ale cycle at 1000 L per batch generally means three to four vessels to keep the brewhouse moving.
Is a glycol chiller included? No. Size it against your cooling area and the largest temperature pull you plan, not the tank volume alone.
Can it run cider or wine? Yes, with different jacket sizing and fittings. Tell us the product before we quote.
Before you request pricing, gather your batch size, beer style, expected turnovers per week, ceiling height, and available floor footprint. Those four numbers decide cone angle, jacket area, and whether a single-wall or jacketed tank makes sense. Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review
We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
