Overview
This 4000L (40hl) three-vessel brewhouse is built for craft breweries that need to hit consistent extract efficiency and boil-off rates batch after batch. Steam heating provides even, controllable energy input for the kettle, while the PLC automates step mashing, sparging, and whirlpool rest. We design each system around your floor plan, steam supply, and preferred brewing schedule.
Vessels and Configuration
The standard configuration includes a mash/lauter tun, a brew kettle, and a whirlpool. Each vessel is sized for a 40hl finished batch, with 20% headspace for foam and boilover. The mash tun uses a false bottom with 0.7mm wedge wire slots; the kettle has a steam jacket rated for 3 bar working pressure. If your water chemistry varies, we can add a separate hot liquor tank as a fourth vessel.
Fabrication and Materials
We use SUS304 stainless steel for all product-contact surfaces. For breweries in coastal areas or those using high-chloride cleaners, 316L is available. Welds are TIG, full penetration, then pickled, passivated, and polished to a 0.4Ra finish on the inside. Exterior surfaces are brushed or mirror-polished per your preference. Insulation is 80mm rock wool with a stainless steel cladding. All seals are FDA-approved EPDM or silicone. Each vessel is hydro-tested at 1.5x working pressure before shipment.
Automation and Heating
The PLC controls mash steps, sparge water flow, kettle boil intensity, and whirlpool timing. Steam valves are PID-controlled to maintain ±0.5°C in the mash. A touchscreen HMI stores up to 50 recipes. Manual override is included for maintenance and troubleshooting.

Frequently Asked Questions
What steam capacity do I need? For a 40hl kettle, plan for 400-500 kg/hr of saturated steam at 3 bar. We can help calculate based on your boil-off rate.
Can I brew different beer styles? Yes. The PLC recipes handle single-infusion, step mashing, and decoction. The kettle\’s steam jacket allows gentle or vigorous boils.
How long is installation? Mechanical installation takes 3-5 days on a prepared floor. Our technician supervises commissioning and training.
What about CIP? Each vessel includes rotating spray balls and a dedicated CIP supply port. We recommend a separate CIP skid with caustic and acid cycles.
