1000 L / 10 BBL Brewery System: What the Equipment Needs to Do
A 1000 L batch is a working compromise: enough volume for a taproom and limited distribution, small enough to keep recipe changes practical. We build around a 10 BBL / 10 HL reference batch and match vessel size, jacket area, and pipe runs to the brewhouse. A typical set includes mash/lauter, kettle/whirlpool, hot liquor tank, and matched fermenters; we confirm the split before quoting.
Wetted parts are normally SUS304. Where cleaning chemistry or local water brings chloride exposure, we use SUS316L for tanks, jackets, and fittings. Sanitary welds are purged and inspected; internal surfaces get pickling and passivation after fabrication. A 2B finish is standard, with mirror polish available on visible or high-sanitation surfaces. Gaskets are EPDM or silicone, selected against the cleaning regime.
Temperature control is not an accessory on a 10 BBL system. Fermentation generates heat, and a 1000 L cone tank can drift quickly during active fermentation. Dimple cooling jackets on the cone and lower cylinder give the glycol loop enough surface area to hold ale or lager profiles. Each tank needs its own jacket circuit and control valve; sharing one loop usually creates stratification.
CIP is designed in: spray ball, dedicated CIP port, and drain geometry that avoids pooling. We position racking arm, sample valve, pressure/vacuum relief, and dry-hopping port so operators can work without climbing. Working pressure and relief settings are set to the vessel design, not left to site guesswork.

FAQ
Do I need 304 or 316L? Use 316L when chloride exposure, aggressive cleaners, or long holding times justify it. Otherwise 304 is common for brewery service.
Can the system run ales and lagers? Yes, if jacket area and glycol capacity are sized for the fermentation profile. Lager tanks need more consistent control, not just a bigger chiller.
How many fermenters? Match tank count to brew frequency, turnaround, and package mix. A 10 BBL brewhouse with only two fermenters limits scheduling more than most buyers expect.
Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
