2000L Conical Beer Fermentation Tank: Built for Breweries That Need Control

A 2000L fermenter isn\’t just a bigger version of a 500L tank. At this size, yeast behavior, temperature stratification, and cleaning access start to matter in ways that affect every batch. We build these tanks for breweries moving from pilot systems to consistent commercial output—the kind of operation where a stalled fermentation or a contaminated tank costs real money.

Material and Fabrication

We use 304 stainless steel as standard for the inner shell and 304 for the outer cladding. For breweries working with highly acidic or high-sulfur beers, we offer 316L on the product contact side. Thickness depends on tank diameter and pressure rating—typically 3mm inner and 2mm outer for a 2000L unit. All welds are TIG, fully penetrated, and ground flush with a surface finish of 0.4–0.8 µm Ra. We pressure-test every tank at 1.5 times working pressure before shipping.

Conical Design and Cooling

The 60-degree cone angle is standard for most ales and lagers. It allows yeast to compact at the bottom and drop cleanly during harvesting. For breweries producing heavily dry-hopped beers, a 70-degree cone can reduce hop creep and trub carryover. Dimple or channel jackets cover both the cone and the cylindrical body, giving independent temperature control zones. That matters when you\’re crashing from 68°F to 34°F in a single vessel without shocking the yeast.

Pressure and Cleaning

These tanks are rated for 15–30 psi working pressure, depending on your carbonation method. Every unit ships with a pressure relief valve, sample valve, racking arm, and CIP spray ball. The CIP system needs to reach the cone, the side wall, and the top dome—so we position spray balls to avoid shadowing. If you\’re planning to carbonate in the tank, specify the higher pressure rating early.

Who This Tank Fits

A 2000L fermenter works well for brewpubs producing 1–3 core beers, regional craft breweries with rotating seasonal lines, and contract brewing operations. If you\’re fermenting high-gravity beers, you\’ll need extra headspace—typically 25–30% over batch volume. For standard ales, 20% is enough.

FAQ

Can I use this tank for lagering? Yes, but specify the higher pressure rating if you plan to carbonate in-tank.

What\’s the lead time? 6–8 weeks for standard configs, 10–12 weeks for custom jackets or 316L.

How do I size the cooling system? Match the jacket surface area to your glycol chiller capacity. We provide the heat transfer data with every quote.

Tell us your batch size, beer type, number of fermentation tanks and available space. We can recommend the tank volume, cooling area and configuration for your brewery.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
