Description
A 500L still is the size we build most often for shops that have outgrown a 200L pilot system but aren\’t ready to run a 1,000L column every week. Most of them mash three to five days a week — bourbon wash, rum, or a neutral base spirit — and they need the kettle charged, run, and stripped before the shift ends.
We build the kettle from 304 stainless with a 4mm shell. Copper sits where vapor actually moves: column packing, gin basket, and the swan neck if you ask for it. A fully copper kettle looks better in photos, but you\’re paying for metal the vapor never touches.

Steam or electric comes down to what\’s already on your floor. No boiler and a 400A service? Go electric, but check the elements quarterly — hard water kills them faster than run hours do. If a boiler is already there, a steam jacket ramps gentler and you stop swapping elements.
Gin basket, agitator, and condenser are the three options buyers ask about most. A basket sits above the liquid in the vapor path, so botanicals never scorch. An agitator earns its money on grain-in wash. On condensers, a 500L usually wants a 3–4 m² surface — undersizing shows up as warm distillate on long runs.
