Description

A 1BBL or 2BBL brewhouse is normally the first system a brewpub installs when the kitchen and the taproom share one lease. Our mini brewery combines hot liquor tank, mash/lauter tun, kettle and whirlpool with one or more conical fermenters, sized so a single operator can run a batch inside one shift. At 117 L (1BBL) or 234 L (2BBL) per brew you keep six to eight taps rotating without buying a second brewhouse.

Materials and fabrication

Tanks are built in SUS304. We move to 316L when the water, the cleaning chemistry or a sour program justifies it. Interior welds are ground, pickled and polished to Ra ≤0.6 µm on product-contact surfaces; the exterior is brushed. Dimple jackets cover the cone and lower body, backed by 50–80 mm polyurethane and stainless cladding that stays cool to the touch in a hot kitchen. Each shell is hydrotested and the relief valve is set before crating.

Where these systems fit

Restaurants, hotel bars, pilot plants and contract breweries running trial recipes. A 2BBL kettle feeding four 2BBL fermenters is a common start; a 1BBL system suits a single taproom with slower turnover, or a test kitchen where a full commercial batch is wasteful.

Questions we get before quoting

How many fermenters? Count your tap list, then add one tank for conditioning. Two to four fermenters per brewhouse is typical; below two you will stall on turnover.

Do I need a chiller? Yes, if ambient in the room climbs past 18 °C. Ale fermentations drift fast without one, and a runaway tank is a dumped batch.

Why a conical bottom? Yeast drops into the cone for harvesting and dumping, and the racking arm pulls clear beer above it. Flat-bottom tanks make this manual.

CIP? A spray ball in the dome plus a pump and a small caustic tank handles cleaning in under an hour. Weld quality matters here more than the ball itself.

Send us your batch size, beer styles, tank count and the footprint you have available. We will size the tank volumes, cooling area and connection layout around the room you actually have.

Customer Review

We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
