Description
A 7BBL brewhouse running on steam behaves differently from a direct-fired unit. You take on a boiler and a steam header, and every jacketed vessel has to be built and stamped for pressure. In return you get even heat across the whole vessel bottom, no scorching on high-gravity worts, and back-to-back brews without waiting for a burner to recover between casts.
What ships on the skid
- Two-vessel brewhouse: mash/lauter tun and kettle/whirlpool, 7BBL each
- Steam jackets with regulating valve, trap set and relief valve
- PLC step control for mash rests, ramp rate and boil timing
- Matched 7BBL unitanks with cone, cooling jacket and racking arm
Fabrication details that matter later
SUS304 is our default for shells, cones and jackets. Brewers running sour programs or heavy CIP cycles often specify 316L on wetted surfaces; the cost difference is real, so we quote both and let you decide. Longitudinal welds are TIG, ground flush on product-contact sides, then pickled and passivated. Interior finish is 2B mill or #4 polish, roughly 0.6 µm Ra on the cone. Jackets are dimple or channel type, tested at 1.5× design pressure, and each vessel leaves with its relief valve set and certified.
CIP is a rotating spray ball on the top manway plus a dedicated return port at the cone bottom. We size the spray ball to your pump, not to a catalog number — undersized flow is the most common reason a tank never comes clean.
Where a 7BBL steam system fits
Taprooms moving past the 3–4BBL pilot stage, brewpubs with 8–20 taps, and contract brewers who need repeatable step mashes rather than manual flame control. Below 5BBL, steam rarely pays for itself. Above 15BBL, jacketed area and boiler sizing need a fresh calculation.

Common questions
Cone or flat bottom? Cones are for fermentation, not for the brewhouse. On the kettle side we use a dished bottom with a side whirlpool inlet.
What pressure do the tanks hold? Unitanks are rated 1.5 bar working, 2 bar test, with the relief valve set at working pressure. Do not run spunding above the stamped figure.
Can we add tanks later? Yes, provided glycol header capacity and floor drains are sized from the start.
Send us your batch size, beer styles, tank count and the space you actually have — including ceiling height and door width. From that we can fix the vessel volume, jacket area, boiler demand and piping layout before anything goes to drawing.

Customer Review
We have been using this still for a few batches now making whiskey, gin and a few other spirits and we are very happy with the results so far. The gear works well and gives good control during distillation. The spirit comes out clean and consistent from batch to batch and we have gotten the flavor profile we were looking for. It has also been easy to operate and maintain. It has been a great addition to our distillery and I’d definitely recommend it to other craft distillers looking for reliable equipment.”
